Primrose is a 1,500 sq. ft. Mumbai residence shaped by family, memory and an extraordinary collection of heirlooms. A departure from Studio Homzstead’s usual design language, the home was not conceived around a singular aesthetic or a blank canvas. Instead, its design began with what the family already owned: Art Deco furniture, inherited artworks, French crystal, carved wood, porcelain and objects collected across generations.
The interiors bring these pieces together through a considered palette of dusty rose, black, dark timber, brass and soft neutrals, allowing different periods and styles to coexist naturally. From the original Burma teak Art Deco bedroom suite and hand-embroidered artworks by the family’s grandmother to the Kashmiri carved walnut coffee table and the Heritage Bar Corner, where a century-old trousseau chest and family-foundry ironwork have been given new purpose, each room carries a piece of the family’s history.
At Primrose, heritage is not preserved as something static; it is lived with, adapted and allowed to gather new stories. The result is a home that feels collected rather than curated: personal, layered and deeply rooted in the lives of the family who call it home.
